September

Places worth exploring

First off, Laduree has opened on Pitt St mall level 3 (just go up the escalator from the concierge desk)!!
Each macaron/macaroon is $3.20 which is cheaper than I expected or  $29 for a gift box of 8 macaroons. They also have tea, you can dine in etc... all the stuff a cafe would have.
Pitt St Mall closing hours so 6:30 on weekdays.

Daiso George Street has opened, finally! (aka the everything $2.80 store)
The store is maybe 2/3 the size of the Chatswood store but nevertheless still awesome! They had a few new things that I hadn't seen in Chatswood or the CitySuper store so it's worth checking out and they have more stock since they just opened.

Exciting chocolate
Kakawa (chocolate) is opening another store! (more convenient location)
If you haven't heard of this little shop, drag your chocolate loving stomach there! In the time that I went, I bought their fudge, dark chocolate milkshake and a bag of their single origin chocolate.
The white chocolate and vanilla fudge was so fresh, soft and full of flavour that I would trek it all the way to Darlinghurst again just to buy it for $7.50 for 12 small square sized pieces.
Their dark chocolate milkshake was nice especially with the added bits of solid dark chocolate in it but I'm a huge fan of dark chocolate so I might be a bit bias.
The single origin chocolate was good but not as good as the fudge.
Anyways back to the point hehe, they are opening another store in the Gaffa building on 281 Clarence st (behind QVB so a 5-10 min walk from town hall station) in early October. Whee!

Jobs
Myer and David Jones Christmas positions are now open!
This is where I started off with my job, I've gone through 2 christmas casuals and for my second one, they continued my employment as a casual so there are many opportunities. You get heaps of shifts during the xmas period, pretty much up to 40 hrs per week so it's great if you have nothing else to do.
Just google 'Myer/ David jones careers' and their careers page should direct you to the xmas opportunities.

August

To my little Sydney wonderers,

Sydney Sales:
-Kinokuniya is having 20% storewide (aka on all books) until and including 1 September, but 10% off all stationary. This is soo rare for such a great book store.
-Colette is having a 50% all jewellery sale, for members only, but its free to sign up and you can sign up in store when you actually buy your items

Sydney job vacancies:
-N2, an ice-cream shop is hiring! It's an ice-cream shop with a twist. It uses nitrogen gas to freeze it's ingredients to create yummo ice-cream.

Places to check out:
Harbourside:
-San Churros has opened

-The Fudge Shop! 3 for $10 but the pieces are massive! (maybe that's a good thing...). Each piece is around the size of a japanese onigiri.

-N2 mentioned above in the job section. I love ice-cream and this is definitely in my top 3. I tried the french earl grey caramel one ($6 for a cup size) and it wasn't too sweet or bland, didn't have any aftertaste, it had such a smooth creamy, almost fudge-like consistency and everything about it was just delishhh!

-David Jones has a beautiful flower display in it's Elizabeth Street store at the moment on Ground level (i.e. the women's building as you walk in from St James Station). The whole level smells so good and looks like a gigantic jungle (a good thing!).

There's this awesome section where you smell the top of these museum boxes and you get a whiff of the frangrances/scents.

-Laduree is opening soon! This is a Parisian dessert chain that is opening it's first store in Sydney soon. I just walked past it today and it's soooo close to opening, the interior design of it is as you would imagine a Paris dessert shop to be like( with gold, antique-like fixtures and stone tables etc.).

-bye bye
